An Ethiopian “world field” is being created

An Ethiopian-style world field is currently being created in Gidole. Under the direction of Amanuel Samuel Menna, a model field for Ethiopian cultivation is to be created here on 1500 m². 1500 m² corresponds to the amount of arable land that is mathematically available to every person in Ethiopia. This area will be used to create a field that demonstrates ways to achieve sustainable and healthy nutrition. The world field does not yet exist, but the dedicated team in Ethiopia is working diligently to realize their vision.

The World Field is being built on the grounds of the Gardulla People Development Association (GPDA). The GPDA is a civil society organization based in southern Ethiopia. Since 1993, GPDA has been active in various areas for the community, e.g. agricultural extension, improvement of health facilities, construction of schools, roads and water pipes as well as activities such as environmental protection.

At the education center in Ethiopia, smallholder farmers are trained – for example in how to manage scarce water resources. An agroforestry project is also being implemented here.
