The hut is on fire!

Weltacker Berlin e.V. suffered a severe blow on October 12 – the association’s farmhouse was burned to the ground. All the educational materials, equipment, kitchen utensils and some technology were also burnt in the fire. Help the Weltacker in Berlin to rebuild!

According to the Berlin fire department, the 130 square meter building burned out completely. Around 25 emergency crews were on site to fight the fire, supported by a turntable ladder. Fortunately, the flames were prevented from spreading to surrounding trees and buildings. Particularly relieving: no one was injured.

Burglary and arson

Tragically, this fire occurred just a few days after a break-in at the farmhouse. A smaller fire had already been started the previous weekend, which fortunately did not cause any major damage. However, this incident left a stubborn layer of soot throughout the building. The association still hoped to be able to repair the house – but the second fire has now destroyed everything.

Investigations by the criminal investigation department also revealed that the second fire was arson. The police are now investigating.

However, the future of the Weltacker is now in the hands of many: because only with extensive support can the Weltacker continue to shape Berlin’s educational landscape in the future.
